Since the introduction of ML Drawings a year ago, the concept of location-based asset mapping has gained popularity in the facilities management space. And why shouldn't it? The ability to digitize your floor plans and place and view your assets on those drawings makes a lot of sense. Your maintenance team will have an easier time identifying where assets live and you will cut down the back and forth of locating assets when working with third parties. Since the introduction of ML Drawings, we have continued to evolve the product. Here's a look at four more recent features of the application. ![]() Space Stamps Since the introduction of ML Drawings, our stamp concept has grown beyond just placing asset stamps on a floor plan. There is a need for facility managers to also stamp spaces on a floor plan. Since a floor plan is just a visual representation of a building, stakeholders still need to see and understand what each room or space depicted in the drawing is named or referenced as. Space stamps allows users to stamp a room and give it a name and description. This provides more context to the floor plan for all to see. ![]() Issue Stamps After adding space stamps, we didn't stop there. Next, we added issue stamps. The purpose of issue stamps is to mark or log an "issue" that may or may not be associated with an asset located in a space. A good example of this would be if a classroom has peeling paint on the walls and needs a new coat of paint over summer break. An issue stamp allows you to note the problem or issue in that space. As you add issue stamps across your floorplan, you can visually start to see all of the issues in relation to one another in your building. At the same time, you can link an issue directly to an asset and that issue will be documented in the asset record in ML Work Orders. ![]() Work Orders on Asset Stamps A benefit of using ML Drawings in conjunction with ML Work Orders is that a user can actually create a work order right from an asset stamp. Assets in ML Work Orders are connected to asset stamps in ML Drawings. Once an asset stamp is placed in Drawings (and is connected to the asset in Work Orders), you can click the Work Orders icon to: View the complete asset record, create a new work order, or create a PM - right from the stamp. This is convenient when you need to multi-task on an asset in both ML Drawings and ML Work Orders. ![]() Cropping Floor Plans One of our newer features in ML Drawings, which gives you more control over the floor plan PDF that you are using, is the ability to crop floor plans where it makes sense. This edit function allows users to create a drawing based on a section of a floor plan instead of a whole floor plan. This is helpful for really large floor plan drawings and needing to section them off into pre-determined zones that you use. You do not need a separate PDF editor to do the cropping, it can all be managed inside of ML Drawings. ![]() To learn more about ML Drawings and how it can help your facility operations and increase the value of your ML Work Orders application, click here.
